Rickshaw Travel Team

Work for Rickshaw Travel!

Rickshaw Travel is a one of a kind online travel organisation with a unique, differentiated product concept. We offer travellers the ability to create their own customised trips to their chosen destination using our unique ‘travel modules’, and each country has a specialised website with many flexible travel options. We focus on booking small-scale, locally run accommodations as well as using local operators so that our product reflects the true identity of a destination. Our travel specialists offer valuable one-on-one service to our clients in creating their ideal travel plans. We actively encourage our staff to travel around the countries they sell, or intend to sell, and we make this possible with a generous staff travel allowance, which is part of a competitive salary package. Above all, at Rickshaw we believe that a happy company is a successful company; therefore fun is essential!

A bit of background.......

Rickshaw Travel was established in Australia in early 2009, and began with just one website: Vietnam online. Since then, we have grown rapidly to include 8 different far away countries over three continents, with many more countries to come.

Rickshaw was originally founded in the Netherlands in 2000, and within several years the company exported its successful product to Germany and later to the United Kingdom and Australia. The German partner-organisation grew to include 25 employees within 3 years and the UK partner-organisation grew from 1 to 7 employees in only one year. We are now expanding within the Australia market. We have built, and continue to build, a very enthusiastic team, with solid knowledge and huge passion for their destinations. Every year, we send more and more travellers to our various countries, already spanning three different continents. We sell the type of travel which we ourselves enjoy - independent, affordable, and flexible.

Apply for a career, not just a job!

Unlike most organisations, at Rickshaw we believe in empowering staff to take on responsibilities far beyond traditional top-down management organisations. In addition to working with valued clients, our travel specialists have many other varied roles and responsibilities. Each specialist is actively involved in the marketing and promotion of their destination, and is also responsible for the development of their website, effectively acting as entrepreneurs for their own individual countries. Country specialists are also required to communicate directly with our international agents, based locally in each of our destination countries, and to work with them to provide a smooth, hassle free travel experience for our clients.

The personal development of our employees is very important to us; we encourage them to learn and become involved in, and ultimately be responsible for, the duties and tasks which interest them. Our ability to offer an environment where personal growth is encouraged is made possible by the continuous growth of our company. As we continue to expand in the Australian market, many senior and specialist positions will become available, and we are always on the search for new country specialists with positive, pro-active and entrepreneurial abilities.

Hear it from one of our own......
 Kimberley Roesler: Senior Travel Specialist

I began working for Rickshaw Travel in February 2009 as a Travel Specialist with no prior work experience in the travel industry. When I started, I was looking for a career change and had wanted to work in the travel industry for quite some time. I was looking for a challenging role where I had room to develop personally and professionally and from the day that I started it was evident that Rickshaw encouraged growth of their staff.

I started by selling two countries and after 18 months I have been the primary Travel Specialist for six countries and have also provided training in at least another 4 countries which has provided me with extensive product and country specific training allowing me to gain the extra confidence and knowledge to pass onto our clients and also fellow colleagues. As opposed to a ‘typical’ retail travel job, my role as a Travel Specialist is so much more than just selling travel. I really feel like an entrepreneur working with Rickshaw and the company has always encouraged me to take ownership of the country and websites that I sell by working closely with the product and management teams who always take my comments very seriously and open to ideas to improve the product.

In just 18 months I have fulfilled several auxiliary roles in addition to selling travel such as IT specialist; where my role involved monitoring technical issues and improving computer systems, and also marketing specialist; where my role involved online advertising and search engine optimization of websites. I have also recently been promoted to a Senior Travel Specialist where I am now developing my supervisor skills and providing training and guidance to the Travel Specialists within my team.

Rickshaw Travel offers a fun and casual working atmosphere with a large emphasis on employee satisfaction. Rickshaw Travel is a growing company which offers so much room and opportunity for their staff to grow as well.
