The Red Fort in Delhi

Days 1-4

Easy Going Delhi and Jaipur

There’s no denying that India is an overwhelming jumble of sights, sounds and smells, an absolute riot on the senses. The beginning of this itinerary is designed to ease you into the chaos. After one night in the capital Delhi, you’ll be transferred by private vehicle to the pink city of Jaipur, one of the jewels of Rajasthan, where you’ll spend two nights and where a tour of the highlights of the pink city has been included.

Taj Mahal in Agra, India

Days 4-5

Wonders of the World (1 night)

Travels on the road from Jaipur to Agra offer a number of World Heritage Sites that all rank amongst the most amazing places in India; Bharatpur, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra Fort, and of course, the Taj Mahal. From the Pink City of Jaipur travel via monkey temples, wetlands teaming with rare birds and abandoned ghost cities en route to the Taj Mahal. Here you’ll watch dawn break over this spell binding monument to eternal love and spend two nights in Agra, with a guided tour of the Taj Mahal and city of Agra included.

The River Ganges at Varanasi

Days 6-8

Holy Rituals on the Ganges

Varanasi is one of the holiest, most beautiful, confronting and colourful cities in India. It will pull at all the senses: it’s crowded, hot and chaotic but also maintains an aura of wonder. Built on the River Ganges, said to be the source of both life and death, you’ll see how the river sustains daily life as pilgrims cleanse themselves in its waters and locals do laundry on the ghats (steps) to the river. Most significantly; cremations are held on the ghats where the body is returned to the Ganges, the ultimate reward for Hindus.

Bangalore's vivid green tree lined streets

Days 8-10

Easy Going Bangalore

Bangalore is the modern face of India, packed with leafy parks, coffee shops and a booming technology industry. A business hub with a heart, it’s known as India’s ‘Garden City’, where tradition nudges up against the New World, as hi-tech companies jostle with wandering cows and street stalls set up outside boutique restaurants. You’ll spend two nights soaking up the progressive vibe before continuing your journey into the south.

Cochin Fishing Nets

Days 10-15

Kerala Silk Tour

From Bangalore, travel to dazzling Mysore, with palaces, spice markets and silk traders. Next, you’ll head to Tholpetty National Park to go on safari searching for elephant, wild boar and, if you’re lucky, tigers. Try tea-picking in the Western Ghats before entering Kerala, known for its tropical climate, vibrant landscapes, beaches and backwater canals, where you’ll spend two nights on the coast at Cochin (Kochi).

Kerala Backwaters

Days 15-18

Backwaters and Wildlife

Kerala is India’s exotic, emerald heart, packed with lush scenery, palm-fringed beaches, undulating hills and a maze of lagoons and waterways once used to ferry rice and spices around the region. You’ll travel from Cochin to Periyar National Park to go on a walking safari through the jungle in search of wild elephants. Next, you’ll spend a night aboard a classic Keralan wooden houseboat, drifting through tropical landscapes along the tiny canals.

India hammock hanging in palm trees

Days 18-20

Ayurveda on the Beach

Kovalam, on the southern tip of India, is perfect to relax and unwind at the end of your India adventures, without requiring an extra domestic flight. Relax on tropical golden beaches, unwind in a hammock or take barefoot strolls at sunset and let your worries melt away. Kerala is famous for its traditional Ayurvedic treatments and this is the perfect setting for a massage. Kovalam beach is very popular and a little chaotic, so we’ve picked some of the quieter beaches in the area where you’ll stay in a beachfront resort with teak bungalows.
