Discover the magic of Cambodia
Cambodia can be a magical place to take your family, offering a fascinating combination of lively street markets, rural village homestays, delicious local cuisine, idyllic beach life, and don’t forget the overgrown jungle temples at the heart of the country! With a complicated and tragic history, Cambodia is young at heart and has much to offer families wanting to learn more about unique cultures and lifestyles.
Neil travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia with his wife and two children, aged 15 and 13: “Our family holiday to Vietnam and Cambodia was a memorable experience. We loved the idea of putting segments together around blocks where we did our own thing, thus avoiding a strict package tour schedule but not being totally on our own in unfamiliar countries.”
Mix it up in Vietnam
Vietnam is perfect for families – being a long and narrow country it offers plenty by way of diversity from the mountainous regions in the north, to the more tropical south with the swamps, islands and floating markets of the Mekong Delta. In between there are beachside towns, ancient capital cities and abandoned temples to explore. Add in a sailing trip in Halong Bay, a lesson in rice harvesting plus a cooking class, and you’ll have the perfect recipe for a great family adventure!
Gareth travelled to Vietnam with his wife and two children, aged 11 and 7: “I think the exposure we gave to our children of another culture and what they have taken from it has gone well beyond what we hoped for.”
Rock to sleep on a night train in Thailand
Gillian, Douglas and their sons (12 & 14) travelled to Thailand in June and discovered that there is much more to explore away from the beaches! “You have to experience the night train! I think our younger son would have happily just spent his time travelling around on them. The Thai people were so friendly and helpful. Andrew was a real hit which we think might have had something to do with his ginger hair!”
